The Cloth "Paper" Doll - Lillian Alberti
This fancy “Can-Can” dancer looks ready to leap into action.
When she does, take a peek at what she’s concealing under her
petticoats! Lillian will provide you with step by step guidance on
making this doll and her display stand. The doll is made of cloth
and of paper with a build up of paper clay on the face to giver her a
three dimensional quality. The joints are actually metal
brads which add a "cool" element to this multi
media project. This Paper Doll is also made of cloth which is an unusual
twist to the traditional paper doll workshop. The underskirt will be
used as a canvas by each individual student. Paint an interpretation
of a whimsical image you what to be hidden under the skirt. If your
painting skills are not intermediate to advance just paint a crescent moon
shining down on a meadow, or other basic items you know how to paint such
as flowers, designs or decorative paints. For those that are skilled
painters move onto more elaborate paintings depending on your personal
painting skills. The dress is made of fabrics and trims that you have
chosen to bring to the classroom. You are encouraged to express your
own individual expressions! 1
Day Workshop All Levels
