Little Cat Z - Kathryn Walmsley

Yes the tongue moves in and out of the mouth!!!

Make a Little Cat Z automaton from a recycled can! In class you will create this crazy toy that licks as you turn the crank.  Your cat can be cute or diabolic.  Students will assemble their automaton using a pre dried paper clay face. You will be given the opportunity to see how this was created using press molds.  Everyone will work with the molds, pressing a new face for a future project.  The cat created in class will become uniquely yours.  You will learn to sand, paint and create a one of a kind mechanical toy.  Fun features will include finishing the cat off with whiskers and a pink tongue. This is an introduction to the incredible potential in automata when used to enhance doll art.  A book list, technique sheets and supply sources will be supplied.  The class it will include everything necessary to create your Little Cat Z, with the exception of paint brushes.  Create an automaton with endless possibilities!
