Baby Battina Automata - Kathryn Walmsley
| Learn to make a wonderful moving toy known as an
Automata. This figurative art has been popular through out history with
wonderful examples during the 1800’s and increasing popularity with
artists today. Kathryn will cover several areas useful in doll art
beginning with sculpting and painting the heads for Baby Battina from
paper clay. You will work with armatures, constructing wire armatures
fused with silk and cotton to make Battina’s wings. This class includes
assembling the mechanism using small hand tools.
You will embellish the mechanism, using cloth, paper or paints
creating your own unique one of a kind automata.
The baby bats will be covered in faux fur or other fabrics.
The little bats once assembled with their mechanisms will appear to
fly with wings flapping when the handle is turned.
This class will be something NEW, a doorway to all kinds of
possibilities!
Hope you can join the class to make your own Baby Battina! A book list, technique sheets and supply sources will be
supplied. |
