Spartacus - Gloria (Mimi) Winer

This is an intense workshop. You should be committed have your pre work completed before to class. There is much to learn and unprepared students are a hindrance to the rest of the class.  There is a lot of fun to be had if your skill level qualifies as intermediate or advanced.  Your first day will start with the pre-sewn body.  Stuffing smoothly and evenly is important. You will go one step beyond and learn to stuff and enhance muscle definition features.  The torso and needle modeled arms and hands will be wired and stuffed.  Strict attention to muscular sculpting and anatomy will be covered. Stuffed a head before?  Gloria will teach you how to stuff the skull. Not the head but the skull!  Then add the overlay that defines the face,, stuffing and needle-modeling the face.  The face will be stitched in place.  No detail is too small for Gloria; ears will be stuffed and needle-modeled . You will turn and wire hands and arms. Legs will have armature  and feet will be treated and stuffed. The figure will be balanced according to a master drawing.  You will review the anatomy to pose each body part to create the whole figure. You will learn to balance the figure as though caught in mid-leap for placement on the stand. .  Instruction for wood stand will be included in instructions.  This class is for the AFIC students that want it ALL and are ready for the challenge!

Gloria's classes are all about learning new techniques that will enhance your doll making skills. The entire doll may not be completed at the close of 3 days. However, the torso and head should be complete and hands and arms wired and stuffed. At least one leg will be stuffed and pinned in place by the end of the third day. Gloria provides excellent hand-outs and students will know how to complete the doll at home.  Gloria does recommends that students begin a second doll at once rather than complete the first one while the techniques are fresh in your mind.
