Phyllis...making sure she flew as high as she could - Linda Misa
Phyllis was a little unsure on how her life would go so Phyllis was “making sure she flew as high as she could”…. For though she was a quiet gentle girl she could dream big dreams…and planning some added help was far better than keeping her fingers crossed (though she sometimes did that too!)

This is clay over cloth sitter style doll, using
paper clay over cloth construction.
Phyllis is under painted to give a slightly antique charm to her
quirky soul. Linda will be focusing on the use of paper clay to sculpt a
head and add dimension to the other body parts...
You will be painting the doll with acrylic paint and prisma
pencils. Learn to create and make specialized costuming and creating your
own fabric to suit your doll. Linda
will instruct discharging and over dyeing fabric to create your own
patterned fabric. Add to your
fabric design with the use of stencils and stamps.
For those interested Linda will give instruction in computer image
and how-to transfer to fabric without using special computer fabrics.
Creative thinking on ideas about how to create original fabric,
color, balance and pattern will be reviewed.
Demos and hands on for those that bring sewing machines on free
machine embroidery to add a little “pop” to your fabric.
Beading will add to the detail of the costume.
Add to all of this; what would Phyllis be without birds and
parachutes. This class has it
all and much more. Linda will encourage students to think outside the box,
use recycled items and focus on the story they are trying to convey – in
all parts of the design process. |
