"Object In My Obsession" Challenge
My obsession is making dolls!!! I hope it is your obsession too. You will need your muse for this challenge. I am here to encourage you to reach outside the box. Create something that you would not normally make out of an object you would not normally use.
RULES My 3rd grade teacher was scarier than the boogie man. By Emily Eckel AFIC One and Another Challenge 2005
1. The object must be part of the dolls body, or main clothing. It must be recognizable as the object when you are done. It can be reworked, compromised in structure or appearance. You will be requested to name the object and I must be able to recognize the object in or on the doll. Do not use a soda bottle and cover it up with cloth. It should not be holding, sitting or standing on the object unless it is part of the body.
Example 1: Body is a washboard, arms head clothing sprout out leaving the washboard visible, painted but visible.
Example 2: The body is cloth but the dress is made of a lampshade, with beading/fiber work sewn on it, you can hardly tell it is a lamp shade except when you are told! Wow, it is a lamp shade. In both cases the object can be recognized, but the Object has been taken over by your obsession.
2. All dolls must be made with some fabric. At least 25% of the doll must consist of fabric.
3. Dolls must represent humans or anthropoid animals.
4. All entries must be the work of the exhibitor. You may use a pattern as long as you note the designer on the entry form.
5. Only one entry is permitted per person. Each figure must have a completed and signed entry form.
6. There is a $5.00 entry fee. Checks or money orders should be made payable to Cyndy’s Dolls, LLC
7. Dolls can be any size, but the must stand on their own or include a stand.
8. All props must be attached. If not attached we cannot be responsible for lost props.
9. Dolls may be carried in by exhibitor or exhibitor’s friend on May 3, 2007.
10. All dolls must be picked up between 4:00 PM and 6:00 PM Sunday, May 6, 2007. We cannot be responsible for dolls left after 6:00PM.
11. This contest is open to Qualified Novices. For this purpose, a novice will be defined as a person who makes cloth figures and dolls for a hobby or craft and makes less than $5,000.00 a year selling their craft.
12. What are you waiting for? Go grab an object and begin to create!
